Bible Reading: Job 18-21

I know that my Redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand upon the earth. And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God; I myself will see him with my own eyes — I, and not another. How my heart yearns within me! (Job 19:25-27)

This passage, featured in Handel’s Messiah, is a rare moment of hope and optimism in the book of Job. He is not necessarily cheerful, but his faith looms large in knowing that this world is not the end. The best is yet to come.

I need to live every day with the awareness that the best is yet to come. My Redeemer lives. He will stand upon the earth. I will see God with my own eyes.

“Maranatha!” Come quickly, LORD Jesus!
