Bible Reading: Deuteronomy 28-30

This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live (Deuteronomy 30:19)

Moses stands before the people and gives them a choice—follow God and experience blessings and life or disobey God and experience sickness, curses, and death. It seems like a no-brainer!!!

Like Adam and Eve’s fall, it is easy to criticize the sins of others. Jesus summarized the entire law in two simple yet challenging commands—love God and love your neighbor. Like Paul, I often don’t do what I want to do and do what I don’t want to do. So is the nature of temptation. We are in the now and the not yet, between earth and heaven, just visiting this planet.

I choose You, LORD! Now I want my actions to speak louder than my words. I want to want You. Lead me not into temptation, but deliver me from evil. Open the eyes of my fellow USAmericans to see the wisdom of following You and the folly of atheism (real and/or practical). In Jesus’ Name, amen.
