Bible Reading: Proverbs 21-24

Scripture   Pay attention and turn your ear to the sayings of the wise;
apply your heart to what I teach, 18 for it is pleasing when you keep them in your heart and have all of them ready on your lips.  So that your trust may be in the Lord,  I teach you today, even you.  — Prov 22:17-19

Observation –  Reading through these proverbs reminds me of all the wooden plaques you see the Bible Book Stores.  You could easily take any of these verses and put them down to hang on your wall.  Many of the verses most of us already know:  Like Prov 21:5 The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty, or Psalm 21:3 To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.   Or this one, which my father-in-law often quoted: A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest and poverty will come on you like a thief and scarcity like an armed man.

Application-  So much wisdom and insight can be gained by reading the Proverbs.  Todays reading is an excellent lesson on why reading this book regularly and applying what it says will help us all live more rewarding and uplifting lives.

Prayer –  Lord, thank you for Your Word, thank you for your wisdom, help us to remember to look to your Word, and particularly Proverbs on a regular basis to gain wisdom and insight in our day to day lives and how we deal with one another, as well as how we serve you.
