Bible Reading: Ezekiel 29-32

I will set fire to Egypt; Pelusium will writhe in agony. Thebes will be taken by storm; Memphis will be in constant distress. So I will inflict punishment on Egypt, and they will know that I am the LORD.’” (Ezekiel 30:16, 19)

God is all-powerful. He is also the Author of creation and creativity. There are no limits to His abilities, strengths, or ideas. We often think about God as love—and He is—but love is not always nice. It can be downright brutal, in fact. You want to be on His good side! Fortunately we don’t have to be perfect in order to do that, but we must want Him. We must pursue Him. If we ignore, deny, or run from Him, there will be consequences. The details of this passage underscore the depth of anger God had toward Israel’s neighbors, particularly Egypt. If it were up to me, I’d get out of town…quick!!!

God is love, but He is just. He will right every wrong. He will judge the world. Are you ready? Are we ready? The consequences of our 80 years on earth will last forever, good or bad.

Awesome God, to be quite honest, I want to be on Your good side! Specifically, I want You. I want to know You. I want to love You. I want to obey You. I want to honor and glorify and worship and praise and thank and magnify and adore You—not out of fear of Your wrath and judgment or even obligation, but rather because You deserve it. You are wonderful. You are all-powerful, all-wise, ever-creative, and ever-present. I can’t imagine life without You…nor would I have life without You!!! I love You, LORD! In Jesus’ Name, amen.
