Bible Reading: Psalm 106; John 1:4-14

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:14 NIV)

The Message translation of this verse is so vivid:

The Word became flesh and blood,
        and moved into the neighborhood.
We saw the glory with our own eyes,
        the one-of-a-kind glory,
        like Father, like Son,
    Generous inside and out,
        true from start to finish.

We—humans—have seen and experienced God in the flesh. He was not content to operate from heaven via remote control. He chose to become one of us in order to truly become the ultimate human and experience the joys and sorrows, temptation and victories that we encounter.

We need not pray to God as if He is distant and unable to relate to life on earth. Jesus knows. Jesus understands.

Jesus, thank You for leaving the comforts of heaven and becoming One of us. It is amazing to think that You walked on our planet, experienced pain and temptation, and truly understand all that I face. I love You SO much!
