Bible Reading: 1 Corinthians 12-14

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

(1 Corinthians 13:4-7, 13)

Although this “love chapter” was read at our wedding and that of countless others, the context is not a marriage. It is, rather, the Church, the Bride of Christ.

This is how we are to treat one another…always. We can’t manufacture agape love. We must experience it from the Source, Almighty God. His unconditional love is unlike anything in a Hallmark card or chick flick. It’s not dependent upon emotions or feelings. It is a decision. It is the greatest!

LORD, thank You for Your unconditional, agape love. I want to love You and others in the manner in which You love me. Thanks for demonstrating Your love, Jesus. You didn’t just talk about love; You put it on display for all to see as You hung on the cross, the greatest expression of selfless love. I love You because You first loved me. In Your Name, amen.
